Puppy Training
Puppy training is an introduction into the world of a versatile hunting dog. Here your puppy will learn valuable skill such as:
Sights -- There are lots of new things your puppy will see in the hunt
Scents -- Scents of the animals that it will soon learn to track and the smells of the terrains they will hunt
Sounds -- New sounds of animals, handlers, and environment are made familiar -- This is also an introduction for "gun shy" dogs
Basic commands -- Commands like sit, stay, woah, come, heel are the basis of any dog, especially a Peytonfarm dog
Puppy training is designed to teach the dog all necessary skills to pass the VJP test (puppy test for Drahthaars). The normal time period that a Drahthaar would take this test is around the age of 8 months - 1.5 years. Puppy training usually takes about 3 months to complete.
It is generally good for the dog to become acclimated to the handler and family before receiving training, but not strictly necessary. By the wish of the handler, we can start puppies as early as 8 weeks of age, and even take them straight from the breeder.
If your dog is of a different breed, or you have different goals for them, we will absolutely customize the experience based on your preferences. We are willing and capable of assisting you and your gun dog of any breed in passing specific tests.
